Obituary

Mr. John Stewart “Jason” Chalfant, 49, of 36 Eastland Circle, Waynesboro, PA, died at 1:43 A.M. Saturday, January, 24, 2004, in Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, MD.  He died as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on MD Route 64 near Smithsburg, MD.

Born October 2, 1954 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of Marion B. (Barnard) Chalfant of Chambersburg, PA, and Paul F. Chalfant of Sarasota, FL.  He lived most of his life in the Waynesboro area.

He was a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1972.

Mr. Chalfant was employed as a Webmaster with American Micro Tech in Hagerstown, MD.

He was a life-long musician, playing guitar for 30 years in the following bands:  Kartune City, The Shift, Side Street and presently for Rudy & the Bluefish.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step-mother, Dianne (James) Chalfant, Sarasota, FL; the love of his life, Elisabeth D. Collins, Waynesboro; one sister, Ann Chalfant Gedrose and her husband Steven Gedrose of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada; two brothers, Paul F. Chalfant III of Shippensburg, PA, and Jimmy D. Chalfant and his wife, Cathy Chalfant, of Hagerstown, MD.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 31, 2004, in Christ United Methodist Church, 6 West Second Street, Waynesboro, PA, with Pastor Timothy E. Crosby and Reverend Valerie T. Wills officiating.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening, January 29, 2004, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Transplant Resource Center of Maryland, 1540 Caton Center Drive, Suite R, Baltimore, MD.
